A research team including members from the University of Rochester recently returned from Antarctica. They spent nearly two months, drilling into the ice and extracting a wide range of samples. We’ll learn the very latest on climate change directly from a guy who does research on the most remote parts of the planet.

Guest: Vas Petrenko, University of Rochester

The Humane Society is fired up about two issues, one of them local, one of them international. You might have seen the widespread killing of stray dogs in Sochi. The society is speaking out about that controversial practice. And recently on Connections, we had a discussion with the DEC about the burgeoning deer and bear populations. The DEC says non-lethal animal removal practices just haven’t worked, and so the DEC supports more hunting, more killing to reduce population. The humane society says: they have the facts wrong.

Guest: Stephanie Boyles Griffin, senior director of wildlife response and innovation

Despite what housing analysts love to say, it is not BOTH a great time to be a buyer and a seller. This is a zero sum game, and we’ll get some direct analysis from Nothnagle’s Mark Siwiec. Siwiec has strategies for buyers and sellers, and looks at the hottest places to buy and sell in the Rochester region.

Guest: Mark Siwiec, Nothnagle Realtors
