About WXXI Services
Since 1958, WXXI has provided the Greater Rochester area with the finest radio and television programming available. In the last several years, WXXI has bloomed from broadcasting one television channel and two radio stations to three television channels and six radio stations. WXXI has added interactive services such as live streaming of radio and podcasts of many programs.
Our current services include:
WXXI-TV (DTV 21.1/Cable 1221/Cable 11), a PBS member High Definition station, features award-winning children's shows, public affairs, science and nature as well as being one of the most active local program producers in New York State.
WXXI World (DTV 21.2/Cable 1275), features documentary, public affairs and news programming from public television’s award-winning signature series and acclaimed independent filmmakers.
Create (DTV 21.3/Cable 1276), a digital channel that showcases the best cooking, travel, fine living and how-to programming public television has to offer. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the channel offeres children's programming before returning to the regular schedule of Create offerings.
Datacasting – Digital television allows for datacasting that provides additional data within our digital signal, which may have a large impact on Homeland Security.
WXXI-On Demand –Watch favorite WXXI documentaries and programs through the Rochester OnDemand service on Time Warner Digital Cable 111. Select WXXI from Rochester OnDemand menu to watch selected WXXI programs when at your convenience.
City 12 – WXXI-TV and the City of Rochester provide city residents with 14 hours a day of targeted, informative and entertaining programming.
WXXY 90.3, broadcasts classical music and NPR programming, every day in Houghton, NY.
WITH-FM 90.1 In Ithaca, NY, WXXI has partnered with Hobart & William Smith Colleges to broadcast a music and news station that will further strengthen public radio in the Finger Lakes region. (Also available as a live stream.)
WXXI-HD Radio includes:
- FM HD 91.5-1, broadcasts classical music programming heard on FM Classical 91.5 with the highest definition of sound.
- FM HD 91.5-2, broadcasts news and information programming heard on AM 1370. Digital radio offers a dramatically higher quality audio and is not subject to seasonal pattern changes like AM radio, so the reception is greater.
WXXI Production Services: WXXI provides client production services from uplinks to video and audio production services.
Community Outreach and Education:
Educational Outreach Center: delivers educational services to the community through instructional programming, Ready To Learn, Adult Basic Education, on-demand educational video, online resources, social media offerings, informal family learning events, youth media production, in-person outreach initiatives and local educational productions. Professional development offerings includes training workshops for educators, caregivers and parents offered by WXXI education staff. Professional development and technical assistance to adult literacy programs is provided by the, ACCES/Finger Lakes Regional Adult Education Network.
Events: WXXI provides a wide range of outreach and community lifelong learning events from: educational events, to the Community Cinema series, to special previews and member events.
WXXI Online is our award-winning web site, featuring WXXI's broadcast schedules, streaming media and resource areas for education, arts, news and events.
WXXI Program Listings is our monthly program listings booklet , featuring WXXI's broadcast schedules, which is mailed or emailed to WXXI members at their request. Program listings are always available online.
Membercard Information is a benefit card entitling you to 2-for-1 savings at area restaurants, museums, bed & breakfast inns as well as savings at several online shopping sites.
