JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION:

Classical Announcer

REPORTS TO:

Classical Program Director

CLASSIFICATION:

Casual, Non-Exempt

DUTIES:

1. Prepare and host fill-in airshifts (as assigned) to include: advance preparation of music listings according to music guidelines, posting in Music Librarian and Composer 2 for web, presenting all program elements (UW, promos, traffic/weather/news etc.) as required by the Allegiance Program Log, in a personal way that engages the listener and speaks to WXXI’s Classical Core Values.

2. Smooth technical operation of FM master control to include: CD players, Enco, live and direct feeds from Decoders, microphones, EAS tests, and programs from automated playlists.  Work with Operations staff and/or PC Support staff to communicate discrepancies, report on UW, troubleshoot technical problems, and accurately report all program details on the daily program log.

3. Assist with social media outreach efforts, to include posting on FB and/or Twitter, writing blogs, creating original content that enhances the on-air presentation of music and assisting with program highlights on classical915.org

4. Serve as host and pitch talent during station fundraising activities and represent WXXI at station events as assigned and available.

5. Other related divisional duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Thorough knowledge of classical music and performers, command of foreign pronunciation common to classical music. Demonstrated proficiency with computers and various social media. Classical hosting experience preferred.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

B.A. degree preferred.
