America's Music Festivals visit New York (including Canandaigua Lake Music Festival), North Carolina and Connecticut this month.
3/5 The idyllic shores of Lake Champlain in August is perfect for the Lake Champlain Chamber Music Festival. Lake Champlain offers a retreat for the world-weary and allows musicians to fully recharge their batteries before giving electrifying performances.
3/12 For fifty years, the Eastern Music Festival has been committed to bringing high quality performances of classical music to Greensboro, North Carolina. In 2011, the festival celebrated its fiftieth year in style with five weeks of over 100 musical events, including daily performances open to the public.
3/19 Every year, the Amherst Early Music Festival fills Connecticut College in historic New London, CT with the sounds of early music. The festival routinely works with the leading musicians in the field of early music, and presents a series of concerts, workshops and classes for festival attendees.
3/26 Along the banks of Canandaigua Lake, musicians come together to make music in a place the Seneca Indians named their “Chosen Spot.” The Canandaigua Lake Music Festival celebrates its seventh year in 2011 by exploring the interplay between folk music, story-telling traditions and classical music. Cellist Mike Block and Clarinetist Moran Katz are featured, as well as the renowned pianist and composer, Lowell Liebermann. The theme of storytelling continues with the most interesting story of the festival itself; the Canandaigua Lake Music Festival’s commitment to demystifying classical music for audiences, presenting family performances and a series of concerts entitled “Classical Blue Jeans,” which allows artists and audiences to meet, dine together and listen to some incredible pieces of classical music
