Rochester women's ensemble Concentus performs for a holiday special of Backstage Pass.
Julia Figueras welcomes Rochester women ensemble Concentus with conductor Gwen Gassler for a special holiday Backstage Pass, airing Friday, December 16 at 1 p.m. on Classical 91.5/FM-HD 91.5-1 and repeats on Sunday, December 18 at 2 p.m.. This holiday edition of Backstage Pass is made possible through underwriting support from Valley Manor Custom Apartments.
Concentus was founded in 2000 by conductors Edna Huelsenbeck and Gwendolyn Gassler. The chorus is devoted to exploring the wide variety of classical music, ranging from medieval chant through contemporary compositions, written specifically for women's voices. During Backstage Pass the group will perform seasonal favorites and Gassler will chat with Figueras.
Backstage Pass is a live, hour-long radio series that is committed to highlighting performing artists – giving Classical 91.5/90.3/FM-HD 91.5-1 listeners the opportunity to hear local and visiting musicians performing live. The series is made possible in part by a grant from the Gouvernet Arts Fund at Rochester Area Community Foundation. Backstage Pass with Concentus will repeat on Classical 91.5 Sunday, December 18 at 2 p.m.
