Cary Ratcliff: Who He?
By Brenda Tremblay ~ Posted Fri, 12/07/2007 - 5:42pm
And he’s having a good year.
In this picture Cary Ratcliff is preparing the Hochstein Youth Singers for Saturday’s premiere of a set of songs called 'Goops and Hula Hoops.'
He’s currently writing an opera for children's chorus and chamber orchestra that will be performed in San Diego in the spring.
Also this spring Concentus Women's Choir will present 'Song of Woman,' to poetry by Rochester poet Francesca Guli.
Plus, Ratcliff’s colorful and rhythmic Oratorio 'Ode to Common Things' is scheduled to be performed by Peter Bay, the Austin Symphony and Craig Hella Johnson's Conspirare Chorus in an upcoming season. And there are rumors it might be performed next summer in Beijing during pre-Olympic festivities by the Rochester Oratorio Society.
Hear the premiere of "Goop and Hula Hoops" Saturday, December 8th at 3:00 p.m. at the Hochstein Performance Hall, 50 North Plymouth Avenue. The concert is free.
