From the Top gathers momentum
By Ruth Phinney ~ Posted Wed, 01/09/2008 - 2:05pm
From the Top is coming to Rochester on Sunday, January 20, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in the Callahan Theater at Nazareth College. The event is almost completely sold out - with the exception of just a few Patron Tickets still available as of this writing on January 9th. However, if you can't get to the show, there are still other ways to celebrate our five Rochester Kids who will be performing that day.
On Thursday, January 17th, all five local students selected to be on the show (solo pianist Harvest Zhang and Compass Quartet members Michael Sabatka, Kieran Hanlon, William Cho and Stephen Ryck) will be performing live in WXXI's Studio E from 6:00-8:00 a.m. for WHAM-TV's morning show on channel 13 & cw16. Doug Emblidge & 13's Live truck will be here very early for a morning of fun. There will be five 3-minute segments between 5:55 and 8:00 a.m.
On Friday, January 18th, the four local students that make up the Compass Quartet will be visiting/performing at two Rochester City Schools as part of WXXI's and FTT's Education program. WXXI's television crews will be taping at both School #15 (1:45 p.m.) and School #33 (11:45 a.m.) and using these as segments for Homework Hotline. Our television crew will also record at the Saturday 1/19 rehearsal and Sunday 1/20 show to create feature segments to air on WXXI television's Homework Hotline (Mon-Thurs at 5:30 p.m.)
Also on Friday, January 18th, From the Top host Christopher O'Riley will be the guest with Julia Figueras on Backstage Pass, live at 1:00 p.m. on Classical 91.5/90.3. Tune in to hear Christopher talk about and share some of his RadioHead arrangements.
Then Saturday & Sunday we have a full weekend of rehearsals, show & special reception for our guests. If you'd like to join in the fun, call the RPO Box Office at 454-2100 today to grab one of the few remaining Patron tickets ($75 each). See you there!
