Why is there a "second" search?
By Andrew Wheeland ~ Posted Wed, 04/08/2009 - 4:20pm
If your curious about how search works here on our site, here's a brief explanation:
Portions of our site are hosted using an older technology. We're working to convert as much of our site as possible over to a newer technology, but it takes time. Meanwhile some of the pages of our site are able to be found using Google Search technology.
When you do a search on our site from one of the pages that use our newer technology (which enables commenting, forums, and all kinds of other interactivity), you'll only see results that are among those newer pages. In order to make it easier for you to find pages throughout our ENTIRE site, we've provided a second search box at the top of your results page that enables you to "Search Further" (using the Google Search technology) to find what you're looking for.
If you still can't find what you're looking for, please feel free to send us a message through our contact form and we'll try to help you find what you need (if it's on our site, of course).
Eventually, there will only be one search tool for finding content on our site.
