On 11/9, Unsuk Chin's Clarinet Concerto is aired, with a performance by Kari Kriikku, one of the premier performers of modern clarinet music. Alan Gilbert, music director of the New York Philharmonic, stated in an interview that the piece was written specifically for Kriikku and was an exempliary piece of Chins work which encompassed both her South Korean herritage and a new, modern twist. It is complimented by Mahler's Symphony No. 1.
