Sing along with Mitch

Your public radio stations' recent drive ended with a bang!   Our spring membership campaign raised more than $150,244 to sustain WXXI’s services.  1,345 public radio listeners made contributions over a few short days.  If you are a contributing and sustaining member, thank you.  There’s not enough ink in the ocean (Okay, is there any ink in the ocean? You know what I mean!) to express how happy we are to serve you day in and day out, offering the best performances we can our lay hands on.

The eye of the beholder

Your dreamscape might be my nightmare.  How you perceive minimalism or opera or country and western might be very different than someone else does.

WXXI Program Director Ruth Phinney pointed out this image in the woodgrain of the door to the Music Library.  We saw two different things; she, a man with a moustache and me, a dancer.

What do you see?

New Year

When I started blogging in October, I did it for my own pleasure. I saw it as an absorbing way to think out loud about classical music, flex my writing muscles, and pass on information that isn’t exactly newsworthy, but worth something. I really like doing it, and hope you like reading it.

Even though I set out to write for myself, I’ve become increasingly fascinated by the number of readers drawn to each post. I can see this number, which most can’t, and you might be surprised by what’s attracted the most attention.
