Chris Van Hof hosts an all new season of Live from Hochstein.

WXXI-FM is proud to present the new season of Live from Hochstein on Wednesday, October 21, 2009. The live concerts can be heard every Wednesday at 12:10 p.m. on Classical 91.5/90.3/FM-HD 91.5-1, with an encore broadcast at 10 that evening. WXXI-FM’s Chris Van Hof will host the live performances at Hochstein School of Music & Dance.

Before each Live from Hochstein broadcast Van Hof will present a special segment on the featured performers of that day. The segment will air Wednesday morning on Classical 91.5/90.3/FM-HD 91.5-1 between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m.

In October, the series features:

  • 10/21 The Argos Trio comprised of Liana Koteva, violin;Lars Kirvan, cello;and Linda Boianova, piano; will perform the music of Mendelssohn, Shostakovich, and Piazzolla.
  • 10/28 Antara Winds with Diane Smith, flute; Judith Ricker, oboe; Margaret Quackenbush, clarinet; John Hunt, bassoon; Mary Hunt, horn; and the music of Ravel and Mathias.

Live from Hochstein, the longest running live broadcast concert series in Western New York, broadcasts performances by the finest artists from the Rochester area’s musical community from the Hochstein Performance Hall (50 North Plymouth Ave. in Rochester). The programs range from soloists and chamber ensembles to large orchestras and choirs. The broadcasts are presented as free "brown bag" concerts, where business people, teachers, families, musicians, and students can spend their lunch hour enjoying classical music performed by local artists.
