An evening with one of the purest and most original voices in American music.

The one-hour music special features Krauss in performances with members of her acclaimed band, Union Station, and special guest musicians. It also features memorable duets with country superstar Brad Paisley, legendary singer/songwriter James Taylor and British rocker John Waite, along with an infectious take on "Sawing on the Strings" with one of Krauss's longtime idols, Tony Rice, and musicians Sam Bush and Stuart Duncan.

Alison Krauss: A Hundred Miles or More airs Thursday, June 3 at 9:30 p.m. on WXXI-TV (DT21.1/cable1011and 11).

Through her soulful blend of bluegrass, country, gospel and folk, Alison Krauss has established herself as one of the purest and most original voices in American music. Her exquisite vocals and virtuoso fiddle playing have been featured on a series of acclaimed albums, including the O Brother Where Art Thou? and Cold Mountain soundtracks, and a recent tour with Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin fame earned critical raves and played to sold-out locales around the world.

Note: Alison Krauss recently received five awards at the 51st Grammy ceremony for the album Raising Sand, her collaboration with Led Zeppelin lead singer Robert Plant. The album was honored with Grammys for Album of the Year, Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album, Record of the Year (“Please Read the Letter”), Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals (“Rich Woman”) and Best Country Collaboration with Vocals (“Killing the Blues”).

Krauss duets with country superstar Paisley on the smash hit “Whiskey Lullaby,” winner of CMA’s Song of the Year, Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year award in 2005. Krauss also teams up with British rocker John Waite for “Lay Down Beside Me” and partners with James Taylor for their Grammy-winning collaboration “How’s The World Treating You?”
