This week Ira Glass looks at New York State's financial crisis, and WXXI's own Karen DeWitt is a guest on the show!

On This American Life, airing Sunday, June 20 at 6 p.m. on AM 1370, host Ira Glass talks with Richard Ravitch, who has helped fix three governmental crises, including when New York City nearly went bankrupt in 1975. What's changed, to make it so much harder for him to solve the state's current financial crisis? WXXI’s Capitol Bureau Correspondent Karen DeWitt is also a guest on this week's show.

Veteran NPR producer Ira Glass pushes the envelope of radio performance with a show that's part journalism, part arts, and entirely compelling and unique. Each week, This American Life chooses a theme. Glass does a story or two, and he invites a variety of writers and performers to take a whack at the theme, with stories, monologues, short radio plays, miniature documentaries, "found recordings" and original works for radio.
