Houston Grand Opera presents Wagner's Lohengrin.

Classical 91.5/FM-HD91.5-1 continues its commitment to year-round opera on Saturday afternoons with six new presentations from the Houston Grand Opera, beginning Saturday, October 30 at 1 p.m. All recorded live at the Wortham Theater Center, each broadcast is hosted by WFMT’s Peter van de Graaf and features special cast interviews by Dramaturg Colin Ure.

Wagner's Lohengrin kicks off the Houston Grand Opera series on October 30th. Celebrated Wagnerian tenor Simon O’Neill makes his Houston Grand Opera debut as the knight Lohengrin, whose pure love is threatened by common human greed. Canadian soprano Adrianne Pieczonka sings the misguided Elsa, bewitched into betraying the very one she loves. Soprano Christine Goerke is the sorceress Ortrud and Richard Paul Fink plays her husband Frederick of Telramund, who will stop at nothing to gain the throne. Daniel Slater directs this grand-scale production, conducted by HGO Music Director Patrick Summers.
