Tune in for an evening featuring local architectural treasures.

On Wednesday, December 7 beginning at 8 p.m. WXXI presents A Night of Local Treasures, featuring three WXXI productions – Great Homes of Rochester, Frank Lloyd Wright's Boynton House: The Next Hundred Years, and Restoring a Masterpiece: The Renovation of the Eastman Theatre.

Kicking off A Night of Local Treasures at 8 p.m. December 7 on WXXI-TV/HD (DT21.1/cable 1011 and 11) is Great Homes of Rochester. This documentary, produced in 2002, showcases the homes that echo the lives and fortunes of men and women who shaped Rochester. From architecturally significant to the simply splendid, Great Homes of Rochester takes viewers on an unprecedented private tour of some of Rochester most beautiful establishments.

Immediately following, WXXI gives viewers a sneak peek at its newest documentary currently in production – Frank Lloyd Wright's Boynton House: The Next Hundred Years. The film, which is scheduled to premiere in Spring 2012, tells the story of the restoration of the only Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home in Rochester, NY, and one of the only that was lived in for most of its life. As new owners moved in, they vowed, not only to restore the home, to its original beauty and structural strength, but to do so authentically, using materials and processes that Wright himself intended.

Concluding the night is Restoring a Masterpiece: The Renovation of the Eastman Theatre, which showcases the intricate renovation of a building that is itself a work of art. At the same time, it tells the story of the intertwined histories of the Eastman School of Music and the RPO, and demonstrates how a building can play a key role in the restoration of an historic downtown. Produced by WXXI and Eastman School of Music, the film is narrated by Rochester native, actor and director Philip Seymour Hoffman.
