Join WXXI for a free screening of this American Experience film at the Little Theatre.

On Monday, February 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. WXXI will host a special screening of Clinton followed by a talkback with Dr. Timothy Kneeland,  Professor in History and Political Science at Nazareth College at the Little Theatre, 240 East Avenue. Join us in Theatre 5 to watch this film that explores the history of an American president who rose from a broken childhood to become one of the most successful politicians in modern American history. The program recounts a presidency that would define the crucial and transformative period between the fall of the Berlin Wall and 9/11, as well as considering how Clinton’s conflicted character made history, even as it enraged his enemies and confounded his friends. Clinton also features unprecedented access to scores of Clinton insiders as well as interviews with foreign leaders, members of the Republican opposition, childhood friends, staffers from Clinton’s years as governor of Arkansas, biographers and journalists.

More about our speaker:
Dr. Kneeland is Professor of History and Political Science at Nazareth College. His teaching incorporates civic engagement and public history, and he is engaged in a long-term project with community partners to reconstruct and retell the history of African Americans in the Rochester area. He often serves as a political analyst for local media, and his interest in American politics and cultural history is evident in his publications, which include Push Button Psychiatry: A Cultural History of Electroshock (2008 revised); “Presidents and Radio,” a chapter in American Presidency in Popular Culture (2005); “Robert Hare: Politics, Science and Spiritualism in the Early Republic,” Pennsylvania Magazine of History and Biography (2008). He is currently at work on book-length history of Hurricane Agnes (1972) and the politics of natural disaster policy. Dr. Kneeland has a Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Oklahoma; as well as a M.A. and  B.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
