Music & The Spoken Word, a Black History Month Celebration

Classical 91.5 is proud to present a special musical celebration of Black History Month.
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir presents four special Music & the Spoken Word concerts in celebration of Black History Month, airing Tuesday, February 7 through Friday, February 10 at 1:30 p.m. on Classical 91.5/FM-HD91.5-2.
Music & the Spoken Word kicks off the celebration with Songs from the Soul, airing Tuesday, February 7 at 1:30 p.m. Baritone Robert Sims joins the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in moving interpretations of African American spirituals, including The Gospel Train; Deep River; Is There Anybody Who Loves My Jesus; I Gotta Home In-a Dat Rock and more.
Baritone Alex Boye joins the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in a musical celebration of popular American spirituals in Going Home, airing Wednesday, February 8 at 1:30 p.m. Music includes: Goin’ Home; Down by the Riverside; No Man is an Island; Ev’ry Time I Feel the Spirit and more.
On Thursday, February 9 at 1:30 p.m., Tony-award winning baritone Brian Stokes Mitchell and renowned mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves join the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in A Dream and a Promise, a spectacular concert performance that includes The Impossible Dream; Redeemer of Israel; Lead, Kindly Light and The Wheels of a Dream from Ragtime.
The specials conclude Friday, February 10 at 1:30 p.m. with A Timeless Longing. Members of the Utah Festival Opera join the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in a celebration of beloved songs, including Old Man River; The Promise of Living; Summertime and I’m On My Way from Porgy and Bess.
