Super Drama Sunday with Masterpiece Classic on WXXI-TV
Super Drama Sunday with Masterpiece Classic on WXXI-TV
Sun, 02/05/2012 - 12:30pm
Football not your cup of tea? Skip the Big Game and tune in for an afternoon of Masterpiece Classic dramas.
Offering an alternative to watching the Big Game on February 5, WXXI is proud to bring back its Super Drama Sunday – with two Masterpiece Classic presentations – Return to Cranford and Downton Abbey. Super Drama Sunday airs Sunday, February 5 on WXXI-TV/HD (DT21.1/cable 1011 and 11), beginning at 12:30 p.m with Return to Cranford, where change is racing towards the small, close-knit village of Cranford like a steam train — quite literally. As the railroad continues to encroach on the town, Cranford strives to open to new realities, from surprising romances to unexpected losses and even waltzing!
At 3:30 p.m. WXXI-TV/HD makes a touch down with the Emmy Award-winning Downton Abbey. You’ll enjoy the first five episodes of season two back to back, which rejoins the story of the noble Crawley family and their servants at Downton Abbey during the tumultuous World War I era. Uncertainty and worry have taken up residence in the great house. Some newcomers arrive, met with varying degrees of welcome; some young men are absent, desperately clinging to survival in the trenches of France; and some men remain at Downton, their discontent festering.

Downton Abbey
I can't wait for this event! I just "discovered" Downton Abbey a few weeks ago and it is THE BEST show on television! I am also a viewer of WXXI for "Keeping Up Appearances" and "As Time Goes By" on Saturday evenings and I'm beginning to believe that British TV is far better than American! The dramas are better and even the comedy at least is as good as ours! Hope these three shows mentioned will continue on for years! Wonderful viewing!!!
