Lawrence Welk and his great orchestra play the music of the Big Band Era and salute legendary friends, including Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington and others.

Lawrence Welk's Big Band Splash, airing Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 7 p.m. on WXXI-TV/HD (DT21.1/cable 11/cable 1011), includes performances of 20 full songs from many programs rarely, if ever, seen on the weekly series during the '70s and '80s. The Welk Musical Family sings classic Big Band songs and dances to the infectious rhythms of the '20s, '30s, '40s and '50s.
