Drama Bug Trilogy

Mon, 08/12/2013 - 7:00pm - 10:00pm

The Orleans Arena Theatre company poses by the sign, 1951.

If you've ever heard the call of the stage you'll want to tune in to our Drama Bug Trilogy!

Although few know her name today, theater producer-director Margo Jones pioneered the regional theater movement, championed the work of new playwrights, including Tennessee Williams, and crusaded against the commercial domination of New York theater. Sweet Tornado: Margo Jones and the American Theater airs Monday, August 12, 2013 at 7 p.m. on WXXI World.

Immediatly following Sweet Tornado at 8 p.m. is Stagestruck: Confessions from Summer Stock which takes a nostalgic look back at the 26-year history of America's first "in-the-round" summer stock theater — the Orleans Arena Theatre on Massachusetts' Cape Cod.

Finally, at 9 p.m., Still on the Road follows twelve actors bringing classical theater to America in The Acting Company's 37th season. A classical touring ensemble, The Acting Company originated with select individuals from the first graduating class of Julliard's drama division.
