Backstage Pass welcomes the Irrera Brothers
Backstage Pass welcomes the Irrera Brothers
Fri, 09/21/2012 - 1:00pm - 2:00pm
Julia Figueras welcomes violinist John Irrera and pianist Joseph Irrera in studio to perform and talk about their music.
The live video of the performance is available here.
On Friday, September 21 at 1 p.m. the talented John and Joseph Irrera join Julia Figueras for Backstage Pass. Hailed by world-renowned violinist and pedagogue Zvi Zeitlin as “two gifted boys”, the Irrera brothers have captivated audiences throughout the United States and abroad. Joseph and John’s concert appearances include notable venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, and the Eastman Theatre. International appearances include concerts throughout France, Germany, and Italy.
Joseph and John have won numerous national and international competitions both as soloists and as a duo. Upon making their Carnegie Hall debut in 2009 they decided to pursue their collaborative music making professionally and theIrrera Brothers duo was officially formed. Joseph and John enjoy appearing as the Irrera Brothers in addition to their many solo engagements each concert season.
They are once again back at the Eastman School of Music, where their formal music education had begun so many years ago, this time as doctoral candidates. In addition to their Doctor of Musical Arts studies, each is on the faculty of the Eastman School of Music’s Community Music School, the very same department in which they began their musical journey.
Backstage Pass is a live, hour-long radio series that is committed to highlighting performing artists – giving Classical 91.5/90.3/FM-HD 91.5-1 listeners the opportunity to hear local and visiting musicians performing live. The series is made possible in part by a grant from the Gouvernet Arts Fund at Rochester Area Community Foundation. This program will repeat Sunday, August 26 at 1:00 p.m. on Classical 91.5.
