Walking into the Unknown
Walking into the Unknown
Wed, 11/21/2012 - 2:00pm
As the doctor reverses roles and becomes the patient, this poignant story of vulnerability and personal revelation will inspire and educate. The Emmy-nominated documentary Walking into the Unknown, airing Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 2 p.m. on WXXI World (DT21.2/cable 524), will make you a first eye-witness in the intimate journey of one man, Dr. Arne Vainio, a Native American physician and health columnist for both local and national newspapers. An enrolled member of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, Dr. Vainio realizes that he needs to digest and personally implement the advice that he gives his own middle-aged patients upon his impending 50th birthday.
You'll experience this very personal turning point in one man's life and his quest to overcome the health issues that are jeopardizing his future. Vainio takes viewers with him through every step of his ambitious and sometimes difficult journey to revel in the unknown.
