Downton Abbey Revisited & Episode 1 of Season 2
Sun, 12/02/2012 - 6:00pm - 11:00pm
Tune in for a whole evening of Downton!
Prepare for the long-awaited third season of MASTERPIECE’s Downton Abbey with Downton Abbey Revisited, a fond recollection of favorite moments from Seasons 1 and 2, plus interviews with the actors and creative staff and rare behind-the-scenes footage of the production. Downton Abbey Revisited airs Sunday, December 2 at 6 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. on WXXI-TV/HD (DT21.1/cable 1011 and 11). In addition to highlights from Seasons 1 and 2, catch a tantalizing sneak peek of Season 3 as the characters enter the Roaring Twenties. What will become of Bates? What new mischief will villainous footman Thomas and scheming lady’s maid O’Brien instigate? Will wedding bells finally ring for Matthew and Lady Mary? And how will the formidable Dowager Countess (Dame Maggie Smith) handle the arrival of Lady Grantham’s American mother (Shirley MacLaine)?

Then at 9 p.m. viewers can catch the first episode of season two of Downton Abbey as WXXI broadcasts the entire second season every Sunday throughout December. Season two begins in the throes of the Great War, where uncertainty and worry have taken up residence in the great house of Downton Abbey. Some newcomers arrive, met with varying degrees of welcome; some young men are absent, desperately clinging to survival in the trenches of France; and some men remain at Downton, their discontent festering.
Created by Oscar-winning writer Julian Fellowes (Gosford Park), Downton Abbey depicts the lives of the noble Crawley family and the staff who serve them, set at their Edwardian country house in 1912. Featuring an all-star cast, including Hugh Bonneville (MASTERPIECE CLASSIC “Miss Austen Regrets”), Dame Maggie Smith (Harry Potter) and Elizabeth McGovern. Downton Abbey is Carnival/Masterpiece Co-production, in association with NBCUniversal.
