An Evening of Local Treasures
An Evening of Local Treasures
Thu, 12/27/2012 - 8:00pm - 10:30pm
Join us for a lovely evening showcasing the Eastman Theatre, Wolk Atrium, and recently renovated Frank Lloyd Wright Boynton House.
WXXI presents an encore broadcast of its New York Emmy nominated film Restoring a Masterpiece: The Renovation of the Eastman Theatre on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 8 p.m. on WXXI-TV/HD (DT21.1/cable 1011 and 11). Produced by WXXI and Eastman School of Music and narrated by Rochester native, actor and director Philip Seymour Hoffman, Restoring a Masterpiece: The Renovation of the Eastman Theatre showcases the intricate renovation of a building that is itself a work of art. At the same time, it tells the story of the intertwined histories of the Eastman School of Music and the RPO, and demonstrates how a building can play a key role in the restoration of an historic downtown.
The Vision Realized, which airs immediately following The Renovation of the Eastman Theatre, is a companion film that highlights the completion of the new Wolk Atrium and Hatch Recital Hall, and the installation of the Blue and Gold Chandelier, a light reflecting glass sculpture commissioned for the atrium by world-renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly.
Frank Lloyd Wright's Boynton House: The Next Hundred Years follows at 9:30 p.m. WXXI's newest documentary spotlights the restoration of Rochester’s only Frank Lloyd Wright house on East Boulevard. Tune in and learn how the owners Fran Cosentino and Jane Parker acquired Frank Lloyd Wright’s Boynton House, and how they worked to restore it to its original beauty using materials and processes that Wright himself intended.
Please note that the date and time presented in this preview do not reflect our local broadcast schedule.
Restoring a Masterpiece: The Renovation of the Eastman Theatre was made possible by support from The Pike Company, PAETEC, Louise Epstein, Keith & Betsy Wilson, and the members of WXXI.
Frank Lloyd Wright's Boynton House: The Next Hundred Years is a co-production of WXXI Public Broadcasting, Fran Cosentino and Jane Parker.
