Invisible War,screening at the Little Theatre on Friday, March 22 at 7 p.m., a groundbreaking investigation about one of America's most shameful and best kept secrets: the epidemic of rape within the U.S. military. The film will be followed by a Q&A with Dr. Catherine Cerulli, Director, Susan B. Anthony Center for Women’s Leadership, University of Rochester.This film is part of the Little's Women & Power: Women’s History Film Series and is co-sponsored in part by The Susan B. Anthony Center for Women's Leadership. Tickets: $5.

After outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta screened the documentary late last year, he ordered the prosecution of these crimes bumped up to the handling level of colonel and Navy captain, and out of the hands of frontline commanders whose inclination is to downplay such incidents and protect the perpetrators. The film gives a voice and a face to the ongoing problem of sexual assault against women, and also against men, a crime that is underreported by both genders because of the fear of retaliation.

 The Little Theatre, WXXI, and The Susan B. Anthony Institute for Gender and Women’s Studies present ten films in honor of Women’s History Month. The Women & Power: Women’s History Film Series is supported by a grant from the New York Council for the Humanities.
