Extraordinary educators believe that empathy and life skills, more than academics, give underserved students command of their own futures. Join a social  screening of "The Bad Kids" film clips via the web and live chat with directors, principal of the school and others involved the program and issues raised in the film.

At a remote Mojave Desert high school, empathy, life skills, and self-paced academics, administered by committed educators give underserved students a chance at a better future. This coming-of-age story watches education combat the crippling effects of poverty in the lives of these so-called "bad kids."

Join New America and ITVS for a live discussion with the filmmakers and subjects of the film The Bad Kids on the intractable problem of generational poverty and how public education can better support all students in our nation's schools.

The event will also feature clips from the film as well as excerpts from a panel discussion on the subject.
