Be My Neighbor Day Event

Sat, 06/03/2017 - 11:00am - 3:00pm

WXXI Kids hosts a day of free family fun with hands-on learning activities, meet-and-greets with community helpers, a special visit from a very grr-iffic friend, and more!

WXXI, along with the Monroe County Library System and Rochester City School District, will host Be My Neighbor Day at the Central Library (115 South Avenue) on Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The event will be full of hands-on learning activities, opportunities to do kind acts for others, meet and greets with local community helpers, and a special visit from Daniel Tiger of Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood.

What if you could take your kiddos on a “trolley” ride to Be My Neighbor Day? Our friends at RTS Regional Transit Service have provided us with free bus passes to do just that. Visit any City of Rochester library branch to get your passes. Click here for locations. Limited quantities are available and passes are available on a first come, first served basis.

Other friends who will be at our event to celebrate: Foodlink, Monroe County Sheriffs, Rochester Police Department & Mounted Patrol, YMCA of Greater Rochester, Seneca Park Zoo’s Zoomobile, City of Rochester’s Rec on the Move, Eastman Institute for Oral Health, Monroe County Environmental Services, Lions Club, Rochester Fire Department, Wall/Therapy, Flower City Arts Center, Child Care Council, American Heart Association, Monroe County Youth Bureau, Lollypop Farm, Al Sigl Community of Agencies, and Nazareth College.

We even have two food trucks coming. So if the kids get hungry you can buy some delicious food from Le Petit Poutine and Chef’s Catering.

This FREE community event is designed to encourage families and young children to be good neighbors every day.
