The Inauguration of Barack Obama

WXXI will provide special coverage of President-elect Barack Obama’s Inauguration and the celebrations on Tuesday, January 20, 2009.
On AM1370/HD 91.5-2 coverage will begin at 10 a.m. NPR News will cover the speeches, the ceremony, the festivities, and the reactions from locations around the nation -- and the world.
NPR’s Inauguration coverage throughout the day will also include special reports and commentary on Morning Edition (5:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.), Talk of the Nation (2 p.m. to 4 p.m.) and All Things Considered (4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.). Morning Edition and All Things Considered can also be heard on WRUR-FM 88.5.
AM1370/HD91/5-2’s coverage also includes reports from NPR’s Margot Adler who is traveling with WXXI reporter Carlet Cleare on a bus chartered by the Rochester New York Chapter of Barbers & Beauticians. Their reports can be heard during Morning Edition and All Things Considered. Upon her return, Cleare will join Bob Smith on 1370 Connection on Wednesday, January 21 at 12 noon on AM 1370/HD91.5-2 to share her experience with listeners.

WXXI-TV21 (cable 11)/WXXI-HD (DT21.1/cable 1011) will carry special NewsHour coverage with Jim Lehrer from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The broadcast will include excerpts of the morning events including church services and the Obama's arrival at the White House, coverage of all events at the Capitol, including the official swearing in at 12 noon and President Obama’s Inaugural speech. Columnists Mark Shields and David Brooks and others will join Lehrer for commentary. The NewsHour special coverage will also simulcast on WXXI-World (DT21.2/cable 524) and City 12.
