Eliane Elias
Pianist, singer, and composer Eliane Elias shows off her Brazilian roots.
Multi-GRAMMY® Award nominee, Brazilian pianist, singer, composer, and arranger Eliane Elias is known for her distinctive and immediately recognizable musical style, which blends her Brazilian roots, her sensuous, alluring voice with her impressive compositional and piano skills. Elias and her band to take the stage at Kilbourn Hall to share their energized and exciting sounds in the episode of the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival.
All of Elias' recordings went top five on Billboard and top five on the radio charts in the U.S., with many reaching number one. In Japan, four of Eliane’s recordings received the Gold Disc Award from Swing Journal, (including consecutively her last three releases). Her 2007 release, Something for You, received the Best Vocal Album of the Year Award in Japan. In 2008, Eliane was the number two artist in CD sales in France on the Annual Jazz Charts.
Shot in high-definition at the 2011 and 2012 Jazz Festivals, the series offers an unsurpassed look into one of the most popular and respected jazz festivals in the country and features performances by an eclectic group of musicians. In each episode, viewers are guided through the last ten years of the festival with artist interviews, stories from the festival producers, and musical highlights.
The Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival was founded in 2002 by John Nugent, Co-producer and Artistic Director, and Marc Iacona, Co-producer and Executive Director. From legendary performers and familiar favorites – to rising stars and new discoveries – this Festival navigates all genres of creative improvised music from all corners of the world. Attendance at the Festival has grown each year, from 15,000 the first year to more than 182,000 in year ten – attracting music lovers from around the U.S. and the world.
