Raul Midon
Raul Midon
Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Raul Midon plays his soulful music.
The combination of Raul Midon's distinct voice, guitar strumming, and vocal mouth trumpet sounds creates an amazing one-man performance in this episode of the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival. Born and raised in New Mexico, Midón currently lives and performs in New York City. His unique style shows influence of virtually every musical genre which came before him, including jazz, blues, R&B, and folk.
Midon has been blind since birth and uses a special home studio to produce tracks and record albums without the aid of a sighted sound engineer.
Shot in high-definition at the 2011 and 2012 Jazz Festivals, the series offers an unsurpassed look into one of the most popular and respected jazz festivals in the country and features performances by an eclectic group of musicians. In each episode, viewers are guided through the last ten years of the festival with artist interviews, stories from the festival producers, and musical highlights.
The Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival was founded in 2002 by John Nugent, Co-producer and Artistic Director, and Marc Iacona, Co-producer and Executive Director.
