Messages from the President

12/03/2010 - 2:46pm

Before you get too caught up in the hectic holiday season, be sure to circle December 13th on your calendar. WXXI-TV will be presenting an updated version of our acclaimed documentary, Restoring a Masterpiece: Renovation of the Eastman Theatre.

11/23/2010 - 3:59pm

“The entire day is filled with beautiful music, thoughtful commentary, top-notch news programs and interviews. What's not to like?"

"I have lived all over the east coast and in the deep south. WXXI is the best! Having multiple options for TV and radio is fabulous"

 "Can't live without you guys!"

11/17/2010 - 12:57pm

Though WXXI is known for many things – balanced news coverage, engaging educational programs, dedication to the arts – one of the efforts I’m most proud of is WXXI’s commitment to making Rochester a healthier community. In early 2007, we invited community health leaders to discuss how public media could be better used to increase the wellness of our region.

11/03/2010 - 2:04pm

The election results are in, and though it may be easy to see who the winners are, it may not be as easy to see what it means to New York State or the nation as a whole. WXXI does an exceptional job reporting on election night, however, it is the evaluation and analysis of those results in the days and weeks following that defines the news service you get from public media.

11/01/2010 - 3:12pm

As the election season comes to a close, I'd encourage you to tune in to WXXI on Election Night to keep on top of all our local and national races. WXXI's news team will be providing results and analysis with 1370 Connection’s Bob Smith and WXXI’s Center for Public Affairs News Director Julie Philipp in studio corralling up-to-the-minute reports from our field corespondents.

10/26/2010 - 8:58am

The controversial firing of Juan Williams by NPR was both tragic and inevitable. Not because Williams isn’t a fine journalist (he is), or because he was a bigot (he isn’t). What made it inevitable was the difficulty of juggling two very different positions with two news organizations, NPR and Fox.

10/22/2010 - 2:15pm

With the election season upon us, you have probably been overwhelmed with endless political ads, shouting pundits and polarizing news stories. That is, unless you have been tuning in to public broadcasting. WXXI has been the home for civil discourse and balanced information about the races that are most relevant to you.

10/06/2010 - 10:51am

If you were among the more than 2,500 people who attended WXXI’s Open House on Saturday, October 2nd, thank you for coming and I hope you enjoyed your visit.  We had a great turnout, with a line outside the door an hour before we opened, and a steady stream of visitors throughout the day.

09/28/2010 - 8:44am

I would like to invite you to Go Public! on Saturday, October 2nd as WXXI opens its doors and invites the entire community to attend our Open House.  Please join us at our studios at 280 State Street for a behind-the-scenes look at how our programs are created and meet the people that make it happen.

09/21/2010 - 2:43pm

If you have been listening to the radio lately, you have no doubt heard reports from the Innovation Trail emerging in our news stories. In fact, you may have caught yourself listening even more intently as topics like turbine wind power and the Marcellus Shale “hydrofracking” endeavors were discussed in fascinating depth.
