WXXI and the Little Theatre are proud to support Greentopia, the annual interactive festival that spotlights what our region is doing to embrace the green movement. The festival runs September 10-15, and in anticipation of it, WXXI-TV has been presenting an encore broadcast of Ken Burns’ six-part series The National Parks, September 2-7 at 9 p.m.
WXXI is fortunate to have a strong legacy giving program, grown over many years, thanks to the support of friends like you. Bequests, charitable gift annuities, gifts from life insurance or retirement policies are just some of the ways you can have an impact on the future of WXXI.
As we enter our new fiscal year, I would like to thank everybody who stepped up and made membership pledges during our year-end campaign. Whether they were additional gifts or new memberships, the outpouring of support in helping us try to bridge our budget showed how important public media is to this community.
With the 12th Annual Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival upon us, WXXI and the Little are big players! The Little Theatre is an official Club Pass venue this year, which means that Little Theatre One will be transformed into a concert hall during the nine days of the festival.
Aside from screening incredible independent films, the Little Theatre is innovative in its special events that provide access to industry innovators. This weekend, both film and access come into play as The Little brings D.A. Pennebaker, one of the most influential documentary filmmakers of all time, to Rochester for a weekend music film series.
WXXI has received an incredible response to the first two episodes of our 6-part Paley on Park Avenue: New York City web series. Viewers have been captivated by the videography, and many had no idea that Albert Paley was even taking on such an immense project.
The Rochester Philharmonic is one of our city's cultural treasures, but attending the concerts isn't possible for many in our community. That's why — for more than 30 years — WXXI has partnered with the RPO to make their concerts accessible for everyone!
Whether you are a bargain hunter, a collector, or on the lookout for unique experiences, you should be aware that the 2013 WXXI Auction is live now! Our Annual Online Auction has nearly 5,000 items ranging from car wash certificates to a new Ford Focus to use them with.
As April is upon us and it brings with it more than just the first hint of spring. April is also Public Radio Music Month — a national campaign to help raise the visibility of the diverse music that can only be found on public radio. We are fortunate in our community to have two such stations: Classical 91.5 and WRUR 88.5.
