Please join us for our Education Takes the Stage Luncheon
By Norm Silverstein ~ Posted Mon, 03/28/2011 - 4:21pm
The education services of WXXI and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra take the spotlight as we jointly present this week’s Education Takes the Stage Luncheon. On Thursday, March 31, 2011 at noon, WXXI and the RPO will host a special luncheon at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center to introduce the RPO's Music Director-Designate Arild Remmereit. The luncheon will benefit the educational outreach efforts of both organizations.
WXXI Music Director Julia Figueras will introduce you to the Maestro, who will share more about his background and his excitement in making Rochester his home. Though many of you may have heard Figueras speak with Maestro Remmeriet on Classical 91.5, this will be the community’s first opportunity to better get to know him in person. (If you missed their talk you can listen to the interview by clicking here.) I can tell you that Remmeriet is passionate about arts education, and believes music is a crucial component of education for all ages – in fact, the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra will perform during the luncheon. You’ll also learn more about the great educational programs that WXXI and the RPO offer our community.
For more information on the Education Takes the Stage Luncheon and how to get tickets you can visit the highlighted page on WXXI.org. Though we often sing the praises of WXXI’s educational outreach efforts, this luncheon will put front and center the programs and services that make WXXI – and the RPO – such a community asset. I hope to see you there!
