Masterpiece Premiere Weekend

If you're one of many Downton Abbey viewers who long for a new vice (until season 7 premieres in January 2016) WXXI may have just the thing for you this weekend. Masterpiece premieres two of its popular series this Sunday evening on WXXI-TV! At 8:00, Call the Midwife kicks off season four as the community prepares to enter a new decade — the 1960s. Inspired by the memoirs of Jennifer Worth, Call the Midwife follows the nurses, midwives and nuns from Nonnatus House, who visit the expectant mothers of Poplar, providing the poorest women with the best possible care. Check out the preview for season four here.

Then at 9:00 stick around as the death knell sounds in the Selfridge household, but so do wedding bells, in the season three premiere of Mr. Selfridge. Jeremy Piven stars as London's retail king, Harry Gordon Selfridge, and follows the fascinating rise and fall of this colorful but troubled entrepreneur. Zoë Wanamaker (My Family, Harry Potter films, Poirot) joins the series cast to play trouble-making Russian Princess, Marie de Bolotoff. If you have missed any episodes of Season 2 of Mr. Selfridge, you can catch up online at the PBS.org video page.

As winter doesn't seem to want to let go of us, there's no better plan than curling up with an evening of Masterpiece premieres this Sunday!
