WXXI News provides you with the information you need to cast an informed vote on Election Day

Our news department has been busy covering local and state political races in anticipation of Election Day. On October 20th, WXXI brought you the only televised New York Gubernatorial debate. If you missed Democratic incumbent Andrew Cuomo and Republican candidate Rob Astorino, Green Party candidate Howie Hawkins and Libertarian Party candidate Michael McDermott share their views, you can watch the debate on demand by clicking here.

On Wednesday, October 29 WXXI will carry the 24th Congressional District debate with U.S. Rep. Dan Maffei and Republican challenger John Katko live from the WCNY studios in Syracuse. The 24th Congressional District Debate airs on WXXI-TV, AM 1370, and WEOS-FM 89.5 (Geneva) Wednesday at 8 p.m. Audio will also stream at WXXI.org/listen.

These debates, along with on-going reports from WXXI News and our Albany Bureau Correspondent Karen DeWitt, plus Candidate Free Air Time (which will launch online at WXXInews.org on Friday, October 31st) are designed to help you understand the candidates’ platforms so that you have the information you need to cast your votes on Tuesday, November 4th.
