It's time for the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival and we're ready

The Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival kicks off this Friday and WXXI will be back on “Jazz Street” covering the events, activities and major acts. Our news team will be reporting live from the Festival, and you can hear those reports on AM 1370 and WRUR 88.5 FM. This will be the eighth year that WXXI will be filming some of the best acts to share with audiences locally and across the nation. In addition to presenting some great jazz to television audiences everywhere, our programs help promote Rochester as a center for music, arts and culture! We greatly appreciate the financial support of the Louis S. and Molly B. Wolk Foundation for helping to make the annual WXXI jazz broadcasts a reality.

If you plan to attend the Festival, WXXI’s booth will be stationed at the corner of Main Street and Jazz Street all nine days. There you can pick up information about WXXI programs and events – as well as what’s planned nightly at the Little Theatre. The Little is once again a Festival club venue with live acts twice a night in Theater 1, while the best independent films in Rochester will still be screening in our other theaters. The Little Café will also be open serving food and beverages, and hosting free live music performed by local favorites. Finally, if you get home from the Jazz Fest and want more music — tune in to WXXI-TV at midnight for rebroadcasts of classic episodes of our Rochester Jazz Festival series. Visit our Jazz Fest page to see all the WXXI programs and events going on during the nine day festival.

We commonly hear from viewers and listeners about how much one of our programs affected their lives. Whether it’s a notable television special or an intriguing report on AM 1370, your response to our efforts helps us gauge the effect of our programming. Sometimes though, our programs get accolades in a more formal way, whether through awards or nominations.

Education Takes the Stage Again!

We often talk about the power of partnerships, whether it’s two organizations finding some symbiotic energy to address a community problem or two groups discovering that there is a parallel in their missions that can be made stronger by working together. A great example of both those is the upcoming Education Takes the Stage Luncheon.
