WXXI presents an encore of Ken Burns' "The National Parks"

WXXI celebrates the 100th anniversary of our national parks with an encore broadcast of The National Parks: America’s Best Idea, airing Monday, April 25 through Saturday, April 30 at 9 p.m. on WXXI-TV. Directed by Ken Burns and co-produced with his longtime colleague, Dayton Duncan, who also wrote the script, the series tells the history of the National Park idea, chronicling its birth in the mid-1800s and tracing its evolution for nearly 150 years. It covers some of nature’s most spectacular locales – from Acadia to Yosemite, Yellowstone to the Grand Canyon, and the Everglades of Florida to the Gates of the Arctic in Alaska.

I hope you have a chance to tune in all week to meet the people who fought to preserve our country’s wildest places.

This occurrence is so prevalent, that I have had members come up to me in the supermarket or at a community event to share their instances with me!
