Join us as we celebrate people of all abilities and promote a more inclusive community

We kick off our annual Dialogue on Disability initiative this week with our good friends Al Sigl Community of Agencies. For more than a decade we have provided special programs that spotlight the abilities of people with disabilities and encourage community dialogue about the vital role inclusion plays in our community. The initiative runs January 23-29 and includes a free screening of Gabe, the story of a young man with muscular dystrophy, at the Little Theatre on Wednesday, January 25 at 6:30 p.m. We will also have news reports and community conversations on Connections with Evan Dawson, plus special programming on Classical 91.5.

The vital work of Dialogue on Disability has served as a model for our current work with the Golisano Foundation and our Move to Include initiative.  Move to Include allows us to continue to present special TV and radio programming, news features, film screenings with panel discussions, and other offerings that engage our audiences and promote inclusion throughout the year. To learn more about this both Dialogue on Disability and Move to Include, visit WXXI.org/include.

Education is Still at Our Core

With unfolding radio news, continuous classical music and compelling primetime programs from American Experience to Downton Abbey, what sometimes gets lost in the mix is – arguably – the most important value WXXI provides.

Supporting Driveway Moments from WXXI

You will often hear talk about WXXI radio providing “driveway moments” – those times when you were listening, and even though you arrived at your destination, you stayed in your car to hear the end of the news story or the symphonic piece. This occurrence is so prevalent, that I have had members come up to me in the supermarket or at a community event to share their instances with me!
