From WXXI News' Inclusion Desk comes a podcast about eight young people with disabilities transitioning into adulthood

This month our news department will launch a new podcast called Exited, which introduces listeners to a group of teens with disabilities who are transitioning into adulthood. The podcast is led by reporter Karen Shakerdge from WXXI News’ Inclusion Desk, which is a multi-platform reporting effort to inform and transform attitudes and behavior about inclusion. The podcast launches Monday, November 13 and you can listen to it online at exitedpodcast.org or where ever you subscribe to your podcasts.

In addition to the launch of Exited, we will also host a free screening of the documentary Dina, a love story about a couple who are differently abled, on November 14 at the Little Theatre. Click here to watch the trailer.

The podcast and the screening are part of our Move to Include, an initiative that started more than 15 years ago when we partnered with the Al Sigl Community of Agencies for Dialogue on Disability. Al Sigl and WXXI envisioned a project with even bigger community impact and together we worked with the Golisano Foundation to create Move to Include. Through programming and special events, the initiative works to promote inclusion for people with intellectual and physical disabilities. To learn more about the initiative, visit movetoinclude.org.
