More about Music on WXXI
Classical, Indie rock, opera, keltic, jazz – WXXI is passionate about all genres of music. Each day Classical 91.5 brings listeners not only the finest selections of classical music from celebrated performers and composers, but also special radio series from the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and our very own Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. There’s also WXXI-produced Backstage Pass, where host Julia Figueras brings in the finest musicians to speak about their craft, and play live in studio.
Every day WRUR-FM 88.5 exposes listeners to a variety of local and national artists. From Open Tunings to World Café, Radio Rock to Mystery Train, WRUR truly is different radio.
And our AM 1370 station isn’t just a place to hear the local news and NPR news. On the weekends, you’ll hear some of the finest jazz played on WXXI-produced Mostly Jazz with Tom Hampson and What’s New with Mark Grube, along with national favorites like Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz and Jazz from Lincoln Center. You’ll also enjoy a smorgasbord of other musical shows like Thistle & Shamrock, Mountain Stage, Afropop Worldwide and Beale Street Caravan.
But, our music doesn’t stop on radio. WXXI-TV dedicates hours of broadcast time to music series like Austin City Limits, Soundstage, Live from Lincoln Center and WXXI’s very own OnStage – which highlights a wide range of musicians from Upstate New York.
