Brizard on the Future of City Schools
Superintendent Jean-Claude Brizard spoke LIVE on WXXI's 1370 Connection Tuesday, January 5.
Listen for a full report on Brizard's interview and Bob Smith's interview with Rochester Teacher's Association President Adam Urbanski on All Things Considered only on WXXI AM 1370.

Jean Claude Brizard Interview
I can't believe the Superintendent would state that there is no evidence that Mayoral control improves a school districts problems.
Does he live in oblivion that he isn't aware of the fact that New York City's graduation rates have increased 13% since Mayor Bloomberg took control the Department of Education.
Additionally, if his rationale against mayoral control is based on two points he cited, less funding for the DOE and less art and music, he really has no idea what he's talking about. Adults that work for the DOE care more about their tenure and pension first and foremost. In no other industry do we see employees who continue to fail to meet established goals maintain their jobs. With mayoral control, hopefully he will fund more charter schools which will be able to fire teachers who continue to fail students. That is what is need, a greater level of accountability.
