Majority of Poll Respondents Favor Mayoral Control

A poll commissioned by the Center for Governmental Research shows 62% of respondents are strongly or somewhat supportive of mayoral control of Rochester city schools;Twenty-three percent say they strongly or somewhat oppose mayoral control.

The remaining respondents indicate they have either not formed an opinion, or don't care about the issue.  WXXI, in partnership with City Newspaper and WDKX-FM, are sponsoring a forum tonight at 8 on WXXI-TV and WXXI-AM.

Question for Mayor for program on April 1st.

In the book authored by Mr. Wong et al -The Education Mayor- the authors concluded that "mayoral control is positively related to a widening of the achievement gap between the races." Please explain why?
