The Golden Gate Bridge's Accidental Color

As the iconic structure prepares to celebrate its 75th anniversary, a look at how "International Orange" became the color so famously associated with one of America's great landmarks.

In case you're wondering, we checked with the NYS Dept. of Transportation: Rochester's signature Frederick Douglass – Susan B. Anthony Memorial Bridge just south of downtown is painted Samovar Silver (the arches) and Reddened Earth (the lower steel and approach span steel).
