WXXI Capitol Bureau Correspondent Karen DeWitt reports on the findings of the latest Quinnipiac Poll that shows support for controversial natural gas drilling isn't as strong upstate in areas where the drilling would take place.
Karen also reports on the 64% of state residents who support expanding casino gambling.
You can see the full results on the Quinnipiac University site.

misleading spin on collage frack study
Submitted by Jay S. (not verified) on Thu, 09/22/2011 - 10:56am.
You are half right. There is "support" for hydrofracking in the
Qunnipiac poll, until the word "Hydrofracking" is used to describe gas
drilling. Then there is solid opposition. But we can't expect, the truth, you are
Nation Petroleum Radio. You are beholden to your sponsors like Chesepeake
Energy and Exxon/Moblie. You disgust me.

misleading spin on collage frack study
Dear Karen DeWitt,
Just a few lines down in the Qunnipiac Poll from the lines you sight, is this:
But voters believe 51 - 13 percent, with 35 percent who don't know, that hydro-fracking will damage the environment. There is strong concern about the environment, 54 - 16 percent, among upstate voters.
Who told you to leave that out? Even if you add the "35% who don't know" to the 13% that are OK with the environmental impact you only have 48%. So NYers feel hydrofracking is bad 51% to 48%.
How about a headline like this
"51% oppose Hydrofracking in Upstate NY"
Chesapeak Energy underwrites Mountain Stage, Exxon/Moblie tells you what to say and how to say it. Fess-up.
