Last Chance to Submit Your Fracking Questions to New York NOW
WXXI's Innovation Trail and New York NOW are hosting a special question and answer session about hydrofracking with NY Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Joe Martens.
The special will air Friday, December 9th on WXXI-TV, but today is the deadline to submit questions to be considered for inclusion in the broadcast.
WXXI's Innovation Trail site has more information.
The Innovation Trail is a collaboration between five upstate New York public media outlets, led by WXXI, along with WNED, WRVO, WSKG and WMHT. The initiative, funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), will help the public gain a better understanding of the connection between technological breakthroughs and the revitalization of upstate New York's economy. Reports will focus on research, development, education, funding, and policy issues around emerging fields like energy, information technology, biotech, nanotech, and photonics.

Hydrofracking & Our Natural Resources
My concerns are for the increased pressure that will be built up in the Earth and increased fault line activities. I am also concerned about truck traffic and its effect on our brooks, streams, rivers and lakes. Our state parks and private parks throughout the Southern Tier depend on clean air and water. I feel like the whole concept is being pushed on us by the companies that will make great profits.
