Marcellus Shale Summit Underway in Olean

Some people are calling it a "modern-day gold rush."   It's a huge reserve of natural gas located thousands of feet below the surface from West Virginia to New York's Southern Tier and the Catskills.

Tapping that reserve would provide energy and a much-needed economic boost to the state.  But the type of drilling required to remove the gas is raising some environmental concerns.  WXXI's Rachel Ward is in Olean Monday, covering a summit meeting on the project.  Listen during All Things Considered.
