Alec Baldwin as host of New York Philharmonic
By Ruth Phinney ~ Posted Mon, 12/14/2009 - 11:34am
Every Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. WXXI-FM Classical 91.5 broadcasts concerts from the New York Philharmonic Orchestra.
As I'm sure many of you know, Alec Baldwin made his debut this season as host of the series. (He calls himself the "announcer-in-residence" of the New York Phil.) Alec brings a presence to the broadcasts that everyone agrees is compelling and magnetic. His voice conveys a sense of the passion he himself feels for classical music. According to the distributors of the series, "he's proven to be a real joy to work with. He's throwing himself into his new role as classical music host with vigor and a great desire to convey the love he feels for the music."
You can check out the New York Times article, along with a video about how Baldwin became interested in classical music at http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/13/arts/music/13baldwin.html?_r=1&hp
