Educator Webinars for Finding Your Roots

WNET will host another in the series of webinars for educators focusing on the new PBS series Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. (4/11, 4/25, 5/9, 5/23, 5/30). In this 10-part series, Professor Gates delves into the family histories and genealogy of 25 famous Americans. Each episode features a different grouping of celebrity guests who are linked in various ways through friendship, long-lost relatives, or even through a common ancestral past.

The upcoming webinars will highlight specific Finding Your Roots episodes and related free educational resources. Each session will include a discussion about the featured episodes and related tips for using the content with students The next webinars will take place Wednesdays May 9th, May 23rd, and May 30th from 4:00 to 5:00pm. 4/25 4-5pm Webinar Description: Sheikh Yasir Qadhi, Rabbi Angela Buchdahl, and Finding Your Roots Senior Producer Rachel Dretzin will be participating in the webinar to share their insights and interact with participants. The session will focus on Episode 5 (featuring Buchdahl, Qadhi, and Pastor Rick Warren) and Episode 6 (featuring Maggie Gyllenhaal & Robert Downey, Jr.) and include tips for using the content in the classroom.    

4/11 4-5pm Webinar Description: Overview of the series and introduction to lesson plans to use with opening episodes.
