The Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival is underway — and with it WXXI's extensive jazz programming and events. WXXI will film three Jazz Festival performances at Kilbourn Hall as part of its Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival series. This will be WXXI’s 5th year taping the series, which has been seen by more than three million viewers across the country. For those who prefer to experience the Jazz Festival from the comfort of their living room, WXXI-TV will be airing select episodes from that that series at midnight throughout the Festival. For episodes, airdates and times, click here. And you can trust that the WXXI News team will be all over the Festival with Jazz Breaks during Morning Edition on AM 1370/WRUR-FM 88.5 featuring chats between Scott Regan and Alex Crichton, along wiht live reports and previews from the Festival grounds during All Things Considered on AM 1370/WRUR-FM 88.5, and special jazz-related segments on Need to Know Rochester, Fridays at 8:30 p.m. on WXXI-TV/HD.
If you're planning to attend the Festival, the Little is offering up a "Free-For-All" every day! From free music at the Little Café, to free movies at the Little Theatre, to a special free kids day on Saturday, June 30th — you can experience the sights and sounds of Rochester's biggest festival without the pressing crowds and the envisioned expense. There's even a Little Jazz Tent provided by our friends from Salena's Mexican Restaurant on select nights! For complete details on on what's going on with WXXI and the Little, just check out our Jazz Festival page here on WXXI.org. It should be another exciting festival this year, and I hope to see you there!
