Hey you guuuyyyyyys!!! The Electric Company is back!
If you happened to be watching WXXI channel 21/cable 11 yesterday afternoon at 4:30 p.m., you saw the premiere episode of the NEW Electric Company! While the updated Electric Company has elements of the original show that you may have watched as a child, it has been revamped to appeal to and meet the needs of today's kids. With a focus on reading skills for children ages 6-9, The Electric Company uses music, comedy, technology, and celebrities — to create a playful, hip, multimedia experience. It has a cool cast of characters, amazing literacy superpowers, side-splitting cartoons, and songs that you can't help dancing along with, this reincarnation of a television classic is sure to make an impact on the newest generation.
In addition to the highly educational and fun television program, the accompanying Electric Company website is simply fabulous. Children can create an account to win points playing several games that strengthen reading skills, read about their favorite characters on the show and watch video clips. Parents and teachers can access a rich set of resources to support their child's reading skills and learn about the show at the Electric Company's Educator's & Parent's Page. The best part about the website is that it is extremely user friendly with directional videos and audible directions for games and activities.
On Wednesday, January 21, at 4 p.m. EST, Karen Fowler, The Electric Company's Executive Producer, will hold a live online chat to talk about the show and answer viewer questions. Don't miss this great opportunity to learn about what makes The Electric Company tick and be sure to tune in Mondays at 4:30 p.m. to watch the next episode of the show- it's electric!
