Homework Hotline Returns Weekdays

Homework Hotline Returns Weekdays

Monday-Thursday at 6pm – Starting September 10th

Designed for children in grades four through twelve, the program – which is now in its 22nd season – provides the tools students need to succeed with homework, and supports academic achievement across a variety of New York State Learning Standards. Teachers from Rochester and New York City Dial-A-Teacher take the calls and send them to WXXI studios in Rochester, where host teachers, who are experts in subjects across the curriculum, are standing by ready to help kids work through their homework assignments live on television.

In addition to providing homework help, Homework Hotline presents daily thematic segments on health, animals, book reviews, history, environment issues and people and places in New York State. This season, special segments will also include features on Native Americans – comparing native perspectives of today with those of years past, and on governmental issues in preparation for the upcoming election.

The program also hosts a companion Website at <homeworkhotline.org>, which earned a 2008 Parents’ Choice Award. The Award honors the best material for children: books, toys, music and storytelling, magazines, software, videogames, television and Websites.

On Facebook, Homework Hotline provides daily updates about what will be on the show that night. It also includes videos, behind the scenes photos, and information about the show. The Homework Hotline Facebook page receives about 6,000 views a month.

Homework Hotline is broadcast live on all eight New York State PBS stations.
